In the same year in which that central piece of modernist poetry, The Wasteland, was published, so too was this anthology of short stories reworking various myths and legends of antiquity into a Gothic-Romantic style, perhaps also characterised somewhat by the contemporary zeitgeist of making-new. This beautiful volume is enlived by Rackham's skillful illustrations, while a short preface informs the authorial intent of these renditions.
