A scarce, near contemporaneous account of the life and work of the great prison reformer, John Howard - brought up on the family estate in Cardington and becoming High Sheriff of Bedford in 1774.

Rubbed slightly on all edges. Front end paper loose and hinge, but still attached. Ownership inscription to title page. Pages tidy and clean. Some discolouration on first two leaves and title page. Some discolouration to rear end papers and last two leaves.
