A history of the regency house from the perspective of various authorities including Major Samuel Whitbread to whom Southill was his family home. First, Whitbread offers a short history of the home from its initial purchase by the first Samuel Whitbread, before we read on to distinct facets such as the furniture and decoration, pictures, sculptures, and library. In the appendices you will find details on the cost of rebuilding as well as a genealogical table of the Whitbread family line. Accompanying all this are 90 illustrations, predominantly photographs, in black and white.

Missing dust jacket. Sunning to spine and partially to the covers. Shelf-wear, particular wear to head and foot of spine, corners bumped. Internally very clean.
