Benjamin Fawcett was the outstanding English woodblock colour printer of the nineteenth century. He was an artist, an engraver and a naturalist and spent his entire working life in the countryside of East Yorkshire.
Ruari McLean provides an essay on Fawcett's life, Antonia McLean an essay on popular scientific publishing in the 1800s, and Gavin Bridson a short piece on Fawcett's colour woodblock techniques.

A hardback clothbound in excellent condition, sunning to spine of dustjacket, but otherwise as new.
