In a former life he was a professional mathematician but these days he seldom uses the left half of his brain. His most recent collections are The Man Who Wasn't Ever Here, (a poetic biography of his Irish grandfather), Poems in the Case (a hybrid of poetry collection and murder mystery) and Identified Flying Objects which looks at life-changing events on both a personal and a national scale and reflects on humanity's regrettable tendency to ignore well-founded warnings.
